I'm going to throw my computer out the window!

This now my 3rd attempt at posting this blog!! ARGH!!

I wanted to get this out much earlier but I had been cleaning all day, preparing signs for a Rally I'm attending tomorrow and my computer keeps erasing my entry!!

So I apologize for the late post.

Bountiful Basket is a Co-Op to get fresh fruit and veggies cheaper. They offer conventional baskets (that is me) and Organic Baskets.

You receive 50% veggies and 50% fruit (though I feel like it is a little more veggie than fruit). You often receive things you have never purchased before and have NO idea what to do with it. Yes, even me who cooks a lot of different things. I received Swiss Chard in one of my baskets and was like what in the world do I do with this? So I quickly started looking up recipes, found something and we love it, now when I want this dish, I buy Swiss Chard!

This is from their website -

How do I know the produce I get in the Bountiful Baskets is safe to eat, it’s not like I am getting it from the grocery store?

The produce is chosen by us, and we feed it to our families too! It is the same produce you get from your local grocery store. If there is ever a recall we would be notified immediately, and you would have better notification than if you purchased at a grocery store because we have records of exactly who received a basket. As always, you need to wash the produce properly and keep it refrigerated if appropriate. For more information see our produce storage guide!

Seriously you get a good amount! The conventional basket is $15.00 and $25.00 for an 100% Organic basket.  I guarantee you, you would spend much more buying these items at the grocery store - well most grocery stores anyhow ;)

If they don't have a location near you this is also what their site says -
How can I bring Bountiful Baskets to my community?

They also offer bread, speciality packs like this week here it is a Mexican Pack - hoping for Garlic, Jalapeno, Yellow onion, bulb onion, grey squash (got me on that one) tomatillo, cilantro $7.50 for that. Good, good price in one spot!

You will want to take several grocery bags or a laundry basket to pick up your basket. If you don't think you will use that much, split it with a friend. I did that the first time. If you get something you don't like give it away. I picked up a green cabbage just before St. Patty's day as someone got one and was giving it away on Freecycle ( a great place to find free stuff btw)

Also, I highly suggest purchasing Green Bags. Link will be down at the bottom of the page. These will help keep your fruit and veggies fresher longer. Seriously I thought it was a joke until I bought them and wow! Bananas last almost a week without turning brown in one of those puppies!! You can pick them up at the Grocery Store, Dollar stores, I found them at ACE Hardware even!

If you haven't tried out Bountiful Basket yet, you gotta try it at least once! I order every other week when I do order. Just depends on what is going on over here if I order or not.

OH and one bit of advice, don't forget to pick up your basket like I did once.. :(  They give it away if you don't show up within 20 minutes of the pick up time. I was so bummed, I had ordered the additional offerings of Mango's boo hoo. :(
